Catching Up

So I have been transitioning with my work schedule (transferred to a new location) and I am back in the swing of things. Today, I'm working on the blogs!! Yeah!!! Can you believe the summer is almost over? I can't. This time of year is when time really starts to fly. We are approaching the holidays and before you know it we will be talking about New Year's resolutions again.

Well this year, 2008, is my last year of "dieting." I resolved at the beginning of the year to get this thing done and I'm determined to do it. I'm planning to hit my goal by October or November and then it's maintenance from there on out! Yesterday, my husband and I went cycling and we had a good time. It's a great way to stay active through the fall without getting bored. Plus, I can run errands and be active at the same time ....that's a win-win.

Other than the usual weight-loss journey, we're still celebrating our marriage. A few weeks ago we attended the couple's retreat from our church. It's was fantastic. Once again, we've bonded with couples from our church and really extended our true church family. It's wonderful having such a bond with these families. They pour their spiritual lessons into us and vice versa. If you're married, and don't already, I really recommend attending one couples retreat a year as preventative divorce medicine. You can never learn too much about God's design on loving one another.

As far as our debt-free living plan we're doing well. Hopefully you're keeping up with the details and lessons on my husband's blog. If not, we've run (literally) into obstacles but nothing we couldn't handle. Our EF has really gotten it's use from our car but we're still staying strong on moving towards paying everything off.

I hope you're keeping up with our newest blog, I'd really appreciate your feedback. Well I'm off to post on that blog too so see ya there!

The Gift of Preparation

Over the past week, the family has been steadily making strides with our debt-payoff plan and our family business (more details to come soon!). All of the steps we've been taking have taught me life lessons about preparation. I don't want to take this season for granted even though it seems like it never ends. The reality is that life is always preparing us for something. It's is important, however, to value what happens in the preparation stage. Characters are molded and defined. Even hidden agendas can become visible. This stage allows us to receive exactly what we earned or prepared ourselves to receive.

Preparation requires two mature characteristics: patience and persistence. Both of which have tested me this week. We had unplanned malfunction with our car. Because we prepared ourselves financially we could afford to get it fixed. The true test came in the midst of it all. In the past, I would have worried (even if the money was available) through the whole ordeal but I was prepared with a word just last Friday. Peace be still. That command was given to me through my husband last week before the car situation. So, on Monday when we turned the key and nothing happened after 15 minutes I just told my peace to be still. The word and the lesson enabled me to practice patience and to live the word persistently until the storm ended (when the repairs were done and paid in full...1 hr ago).

Now, I have a better appreciation for being prepared because this lesson taught me that I am preparing to receive PEACE in all it's forms. What are you preparing for and what is life preparing you for? Either way, you better get ready!

TWS

I am so excited! It's the one year anniversary of our family ministry! In recognition of our anniversary, we've decided to launch our newest blog mywrightsolutions. This blog takes our voices and combines them to focus on spiritual issues such as Stewardship, Ministry, Marriage Enrichment and truly living a healthy, Christ-centered lifestyle. Mywrightsolutions is the online media hub for The Wright Solutions (TWS) the parent company we have formed to house these outlets and others we will bring to you in the future.

Enjoy the tips, articles and resources put together from the TWS family, but most importantly tell us what you think! We look forward to hearing your ideas and feedback!

Out of Sight Not Mind

It's been too long. Honestly, I had writers block. There were a lot of topics I thought about covering and then never dedicated the time. Meanwhile here's the update:

1) Physically. I am still working out and loosing inches but still plateauing on the scale. At first I was pretty worried/annoyed but now I realize to do things well I need to give up the pressure I was putting on the # of lbs and focus on the the lifestyle changes I am making. The scale will catch up to my mentality.

2) Financially. If you're not already, check out my husbands blog for an update on the true PROGRESS we are making. We've paid our share of stupid tax but we're moving forward nicely to becoming debt free (we're 1/3 of the way done)!!!

3) Spiritually. A genuine relationship with Christ has been a focus of mine since the new year. I am a born again believer whose known and loved the Lord. In 2008, however, I'm dedicating more time to seeking His face versus his hand...if you know what I mean. We all do it, but in 2007 when he favored me in so many ways it humbled me to question how well I know Him through it all. Through one of His manservant's I was reminded that He will never leave me yet I have to permit Him into my life. (Yeah you know I'm blogging on this one soon!) Needless to say, He has renewed me multiple times daily. I AM HIS AND HE IS MINE.

In all of these areas and more my life is becoming more balanced. I look forward to share more with you on how it's been accomplished....stay tuned to a sister blog from TWS. Oh, not sure what that is? See you on 07.07.08.

My name is Mrs. Wright and I'm a blogaholic

Where did the blog come from (please no one reply, I'm being rhetorical)?

I have found myself looking at two to three of them daily (which I'm sure is nothing). Personally, I think it's replacing my old magazine-junkie habit. I can read and react to a lot of people's opinions without holding onto the magazine itself for years and years never wanting to throw it away.

It's interesting how they emerged from seemingly no where, but now are EVERYWHERE. Most friends I know are either reading them daily or writing them. The interesting thing about blogs is that it introduces you to someones thought pattern that you may never learn even if you spent a long weekend with them. It's like your being introduced to that "private" self that we all have. The comments that we think but don't dare say are (sometimes) tactfully phrased into a philosophical discussion. Sometimes the topics are deep and insightful while other times they are so pointless you have to wonder how long it took the person to think that thought.

My point is this....if you think you know someone ask them if they write for or a read blog then find out which one. The answers will surely prove more interesting than this post but are sure to surprise you.

No Pain No Gain

Today my body hurts.

The day was still blessed, but I guess the point in blogging how I feel is to remind me, and you, that everyday isn't all sunshine.

And today my body HURTS.

...Until next time...

Debt-Free vs. Fat-Free...I CAN HAVE BOTH

This morning I started working out again. I've been changing my lifestyle to help me loose weight and I'm down 2 dress sizes and 31 lbs so far :) I'm started almost one year ago and have maintained my success. Now, I'm focused on the next two sizes and 20 or so pounds.

It was actually my goal this week to feel that no pain no gain workout. Mission accomplished. Feeling this pain reminds me of a very important financial lesson. You know how after a HARD workout you can feel muscles you've neglected or forgot about? It reminds you of all the areas on our body that we take for granted. Well it's the same lesson with finances. When you're B-R-O-K-E and want to spend money you're reminded of all the neglectful ways you've spent your income. Both the weight-loss and financial lessons have been so empowering for me.

My financial mindset has shifted from thinking of all of the money that goes out to all of things that come into my life. Does that make sense? For example, instead of focusing on loosing money to pay the electric bill I think about the electricity coming into my home that enables me to enjoy the internet etc. Now I realize that the same logic has to apply to my physical body. I went to a Brazilian steakhouse recently (for my mom's birthday...HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMA!), which you may know is a buffet. Well, before taking control of my weight, I would have focused primarily on getting my monies worth. This time I focused on keeping my health as the priority, which is worth FAR more than a buffet. I may not have gotten my money's worth but I kept my weight where I wanted it (actually only gained .1 oz. over the previous week).

It's been a blessed week. My focus for next week is to get Gazelle intense (gotta read TMM to get it) physically and financially. My dh (dear husband) and I created a list of items that we can sell to get things rolling and start paying off more debt!

So stay tuned...who knows maybe you'll want to buy some of the stuff?!
